Biography
In her practice, Hilda Hellström explores the immanent forces and narratives embedded within materials and the natural world. Through intricate casting techniques and an experimental approach to craft, she investigates transformation, liminal states, and the metamorphic potential of matter. Drawing upon geology, archaeology, alchemy, and pantheism, her work interweaves fabulation and fabrication, shape-making and image-making, alongside natural, cultural, and personal histories. Central to her practice is an empirical and experimental approach, through which she examines how the cultural and emotional associations of materials shape our perception of the world around us.

Hilda Hellström (b. 1984) currently lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 2012, she graduated with an MFA from the Royal College of Art, London.
