We are pleased to present Jeroen Erosie's first solo exhibiton at the gallery, titled Accumulation Phase. The exhibition brings together a new series of paintings, collages, and concrete sculptures.
Jeroen Erosie is a Dutch artist based in Eindhoven whose practice has evolved from different backgrounds like graffiti, typography, and illustration into an abstract exploration of ambiguous forms. Starting from the intimate lines of his sketchbooks, Erosie's practice unfolds into prints, canvases, drawings, objects, and collages. His works capture a paused instant in a restless dynamic, where shapes, lines, and textures shift, collide, and reconfigure in continuous transformation.
The exhibition title refers to the artistic process, in which a myriad of impressions, encounters, and observations gathered from the city accumulate and flow through the artist's mind, only to be gradually distilled and transformed into different projects. In Jungian psychology, the concept of the accumulation phase can be understood as a period of quiet observation, during which an individual absorbs, experiences, and gathers impressions from their surroundings.
In Erosie's practice, this process of accumulation appears to be omnipresent. Both his sculptures and paintings are characterised by a layering and stacking of elements, forms, and gestures, creating complex compositions in which individual components retain traces of their origins while contributing to a larger whole.
His work functions simultaneously as a visual language and a way of thinking, translating the constant influx of stimuli into a vocabulary of lines. It channels the rhythms of urban landscapes, discovered during his endless bike rides across the country, as well as the architectural echoes of forgotten spaces, overlooked details, and cultural symbols.
