... Markus Åkesson's Now You See Me series depicts figures enveloped in richly patterned, sumptuous fabrics that match the portrait's background so that they seem to disappear into their environment. His approach to anti-portraiture is to deny his subjects both body and face as they 'are consumed by their own beauty' and the sumptuousness of the scenery.
