John Rainey at The Drawing Schools Gallery, Windsor

John Rainey's latest exhibition 'Otherland' takes us on a tour of a world adjacent to reality, populated by doubles, glitches, shadows and alternatives. Combining forms from Greco-Roman mythology with references to creatures from Irish folklore, Rainey’s shapeshifting mythological mashups are pieced together from fragments to create sculptural collages. These scrambled forms become ways of reflecting on ideas about certainty, our relationships to alternative selves, and the complexity and double-nature of modern Northern Irish identity.
