MARIA KRISTOFERSSON

Maria Kristofersson’s is a ceramic artist, but her perspective is a drawer’s and a painter's. Her works can be described as three-dimensional drawings, in which the surface texture, lines and shadows are crucial. Her work has a restrained color palette including white, black and terracotta. Delicate and fragile, still rustic and clear. Well-known shapes, such as boxes and cylinders, are the baseline for her sensitive surfaces, where function is a completely subordinated term.

Maria Kristofersson resides and works in Gothenburg, Sweden. After studies at the Hovedskous painting school (now the Gothenburg Art School), she took her Master in Ceramics at the Academy of Arts and Crafts (HDK) in Gothenburg. She has participated in several solo and group exhibitions in Sweden, Japan, Norway and the UK. She is represented at the Röhsska Museum and has made several public commissions.
