A violet and grey "Bolle" incalmo glass vase designed by Finnish Tapio Wirkkala glass for Venini, Murano, Italy in 1966. This vase was probably made in the 1960's.
The Finnish artist and designer Tapio Wirkkala began working with the Italian world famous art glass maker Venini in 1962 creating several successful collections. That year he designed the "Bolle", a series of bottles characterized by several color combinations and produced with the complicated incalmo technique.
The incalmo techniques is particularly difficult, the upper and lower part of an object has to be shaped separately and joined when still hot. This is totally made by hand and requires the maximum precision
